Rodrigo Hernandez es un periodista independiente y documentalista que nació en México y se crió entre España y México. Comenzó su carrera profesional como corresponsal en África y luego realizó reportajes en más de 50 países. Cubrió las revoluciones en Egipto y Túnez, el golpe de Estado en Honduras y conflictos militares en Somalia, Afganistán o Libia. Dirigió diversas series documentales (“After the War”, Nuestra América Deportiva, Pachamama) emitidas en decenas de países. Ha trabajado como director de fotografía para documentales en The New York Times, National Geographic, Netflix y BBC. Desde 2012 forma parte del colectivo audiovisual Zungu. En 2018 codirigió el largometraje documental “Disparos” (“Shooting”) presentado en algunos de los festivales más importantes del mundo y convirtiéndose en el documental más exhibido en cines mexicanos del año. Su corto documental “Blood On Our Side”, realizado en 2020 ganó el Premio del Jurado al Mejor Cortometraje Documental en el Festival de Cine de Austin 2020, calificando para los Premios de la Academia en 2021. Su último cortometraje, Serigne (2022), actualmente compite en numerosos festivales alrededor del mundo.
Rodrigo Hernandez is an independent journalist and documentarian who was born in Mexico and grew up between Spain and Mexico. He began his professional career as a correspondent in Africa and went on to report in more than 50 countries. He covered the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia, the coup in Honduras and military conflicts in Somalia, Afghanistan or Libya. He directed various documentary series (“After the War”, Nuestra América Deportiva, Pachamama) broadcast in dozens of countries. He has worked as a cinematographer for documentaries at The New York Times, National Geographic, Netflix, and BBC. Since 2012 he has been part of the Zungu audiovisual collective. In 2018 he co-directed the documentary feature “Shooting” (“Disparos”) presented at some of the most important festivals in the world and becoming the most exhibited documentary in Mexican theaters of the year. His short documentary “Blood On Our Side,” made in 2020, won the Jury Award for Best Documentary Short at the 2020 Austin Film Festival, qualifying for the Academy Awards in 2021. His latest short, Serigne (2022), is currently in competition at numerous festivals around the world.
